Fostering

Looking for a life-changing, rewarding experience? Then consider fostering for Paddy's Paws!

PLEASE READ ALL THE INFORMATION BELOW BEFORE YOU APPLY.

Interested in fostering? Please do not apply if pets in the home are not up to date per our website requirements or are not altered. Our program requires that fosters be Wisconsin residents who live within 45 minutes of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin.
**Please Note: Applications with incomplete information will not be processed. Examples include: No veterinarian contact information for pets in the last five years (phone number), no landlord information if renting (name and phone number), failure to include non-family references, incomplete or excluded birth dates, and incomplete names for adults in the home**
In order to proceed with the processing, all current dogs in the home must be spayed or neutered, up to date on rabies vaccination, up to date on DHLPP, up to date on Heartworm testing and preventative. All cats in the home must be spayed or neutered and up to date on a rabies vaccination or wellness exam. We DO NOT process applications if dogs or cats over 6 months in the home are not spayed or neutered.

Our goal is to place our rescued dogs in permanent, loving homes, but foster homes are needed along the way! By completing this form you will assist us in determining if fostering will suit you and your lifestyle. After the application has been approved, a home visit will be scheduled. Please note that we are 100% volunteer run and our timeline can vary. We do anticipate an extended time for scheduling home visits that are not in the Jefferson or Dane County Area. All family members and other animals residing in the home must be present at the home visit and all fosters must be 21 years of age or older.

A foster placement is NOT a trial for adoption. Foster parents are just a stop along the way to a forever home. If you are primarily interested in adding to your family, we ask that you complete an adoption application.
No animal will be placed in foster to those who mislead or fail to provide accurate information on the foster application Our rescue reserves the right to refuse foster placement to anyone.

Once an application is submitted, the materials are reviewed by the Application Review and Collaboration Team. This team is comprised of members from our Houston rescues, as well as local volunteers who support best-practice placement of rescue animals.
By submitting this application, you agree to the Terms of Fostering above. You can fill out an application here. Please write "Foster" when it asks for the name of an interested dog.

Fostering isn't easy. You take them into your home and treat them as your own. You spoil them with treats and toys. You teach them that the world isn't always scary or cruel. You fall in love with them and they fall in love with you. They get to experience "home" and that is a beautiful thing.

The bed gets smaller, the schedule gets hectic, the floors need more cleaning and there is a never ending explosions of stuffed toys. And that is a life-adjusting kind of thing.

Then you let them go. And you cry. And you miss them. And for awhile, they will miss you. It hurts and it's hard, but they have found their forever. And that is a bittersweet thing.

You may think "I could never do that". But you can. You can because deep down you know that if you don't, others won't ever have a chance. They'll never get an in-between home or a forever home. And that is a horrible thing.
Please consider fostering. It's a life changing thing.
